FastPivot.com President Matthew Ledford officially named this Monday, January 18th, 2010 (MLK Day) a paid “service” holiday for FastPivot.com employees. The goal was to go out in the community on this important day to help make a difference.
Here’s some of what the FastPivot.com team accomplished today:
Planting trees in Malvern Hills Park with Asheville Riverlink:
FastPivot.com President, Matthew Ledford, says of his MLK service day volunteer work, “Along with about a dozen UNCA students and a couple more community folks we secured some of the erosion control along the banks. I’d estimate we also planted about 100 tree stakes of about the 400 or so that got planted along the banks of Buttermilk Creek!”
Lending a hand to the Asheville Animal Compassion Network:
Daphne Weimer, FastPivot.com HR Director brought her children out today to help the animals: “We walked every dog in that place that we could. What a great day to be outdoors. We scooped poop, cuddled and played with all the animals, helped clean and on and on! It was a great experience and I would recommend it to all parents with kids that love animals. What a great way to help out and teach your kids valuable lessons at the same time.”
FastPivot.com is also involved in helping Vision Nicaragua, sponsoring the Earth School Dupont Forest 12k (a benefit for Friends of the Dupont Forest), and making pledges to the Earthquake crises in Haiti.
Registration is now open for the upcoming Jus Running hosted 10th annual 2010 EARTH SCHOOL Dupont State Forest 12k Trail Race!

FastPivot.com believes in green leadership initiatives and doing everything possible to lessen it's carbon footprint on the world. Many e-commerce/Yahoo! Store build/design companies like FastPivot.com are ahead of the game because, outside of a modest home office, their primary business infrastructure is online and many of their full-time staff work mobile or in home offices. But FastPivot.com also believes in taking proactive and intentional efforts to make our world greener.
There's no better place to start this action than in one's own backyard, which is why FastPivot.com chose to sponsor the 2010 Earth School Dupont 12k Trail Race, a benefit for the Dupont State Forest. Event promotions for this March event will begin this January at www.JusRunning.com
Preserving large green spaces like the Dupont State Forest ensures a safe home for indigenous animals and a protected area for vegetation to flourish. These large forest areas help process human by-products like carbon dioxide and other pollutants, not to mention the fact that they welcome our recreations and meditations.
